It’s back to school for many South Carolina students
Summer is over for many South Carolina students as they head back to school this week.
Schools in Rock Hill York (District 3), Lancaster, Fort Mill, Chester, York (District 1), Clover (District 2) and Chesterfield start back Thursday, Aug. 17.
Fort Mill's newest school started Thursday, along with many other schools in South Carolina.
Pleasant Knoll Middle School, located on Pleasant Road, welcomes more than 800 6th through 8th graders. There are about 15,000 enrolled in the entire Fort Mill District.
Next week, on Monday, Ashe, Avery and Watauga County Schools will be back in session.
On Aug. 28, school starts back for Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Gaston County, Union County, Anson County, Burke County, Caldwell County, Alexander County, Cleveland County, Lincoln County, Catawba County, Iredell-Statesville, Rowan-Salisbury, Stanly County, Richmond County, Hickory, Newton-Conover, Kannapolis, and Mooresville.
CMS Superintendent Dr. Clayton Wilcox greeted teachers Wednesday morning on their first day back as they prepare for the first day of school.
