A 19-year-old woman seriously injured in a reported near-drowning at a YMCA in Cabarrus County last week remains in the hospital.
The incident happened around 6 p.m. last Thursday at the YMCA on YMCA Drive, which is off of W. C. Street in Kannapolis. Lifeguards pulled the teen out of a pool and performed CPR until paramedics took over, police said.
The victim was then rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The teen is a “lucky girl” and has minimal brain damage, if any, Kannapolis police said Wednesday.
