Motorcyclist killed in northwest Charlotte crash

A motorcyclist was killed when his bike collided with an SUV in northwest Charlotte Wednesday afternoon.

Police identified the motorcyclist as Orlando Everick Jenkins, 50.

Jenkins was driving his 1999 Suzuki GSX-R750 west on Mount Holly Road near Brookshire Boulevard just before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

A woman driving a 2006 Saturan Ion was trying to turn left onto the road from Winding Canyon Road when Jenkins’ motorcycle crashed into her.

The woman and her infant son, who was buckled in the back seat, weren’t injured. The woman had not not been charged with a crime on Tuesday.

Police say alcohol wasn’t a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing and detectives are trying to see if speed contributed to the collision.
