$10,000 in free gas cards given away by Matthews church
New Beginnings Church in Matthews gave away $10,000 in gas cards Friday, the fourth year it has held the event.
The $25 gas cards were given out over 1 1/2 hours to the first 400 cars that showed up at the church, located at 7027 Stillwell Road near Margaret Wallace Road.
The church calls the community outreach event “fuel for the soul.”
