Sharon Amity Road closure set for several nights next week

Sharon Amity Road at the intersection with Independence Boulevard will be closed for several nights next week as state road crews install a storm drain crossing.

The closures will last from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. next Monday through Thursday, the N.C. Department of Transportation said.

During the closure, the DOT will allow right turns from Sharon Amity Road onto Independence Boulevard.

Southbound Sharon Amity Road drivers will be detoured down eastbound Independence Boulevard, then to Idlewild Road, where they will make a u-turn at the intersection onto westbound Independence Boulevard.

The DOT also will close the inside lane in both directions on Independence Boulevard from Sharon Amity Road to Farmingdale Drive.
