No cause yet in Carowinds coaster problem
Carowinds amusement park on Sunday didn’t release the cause of a problem that left 20 people stuck more than 20 feet in the air Saturday night on a roller coaster intended for families with smaller children.
Staff at Carowinds had to evacuate the Flying Ace Aerial Chase about 9:40 p.m., according to Carowinds spokeswoman Laresa Thompson. Everyone made it off the ride safely.
Thompson said the ride has safety features that shut it down if computers detect a glitch. Charlotte firefighters said about 20 children and adults were stuck about 20 feet in the air before park staff was able to get them down.
The Flying Ace Aerial Chase is the tallest ride in the Planet Snoopy kids area. Cleve R. Wootson Jr.
