Democratic state Sen. Jeff Jackson of Charlotte will join members of the liberal group Progress NC at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center on Wednesday to protest higher taxes they said are the result of General Assembly tax reforms.
The gathering will be at 1:15 p.m. in the lobby of the Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.
“I paid much more in state income taxes this year,” Lisa Heenan, who is scheduled to speak at the gathering, said in a media advisory issued by Progress NC to announce the event. “Every working family deserves a chance to prosper, but these lawmakers are asking us to pay more but settle for less.”
