Freedom Drive closed after fatal wreck
A fatal wreck has closed outbound Freedom Drive at Alleghany Street in west Charlotte on Monday night.
One of two cars in the wreck hit a power pole, knocking electrical lines down, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Lt. Andrew Harris said.
One person was taken to the hospital by MEDIC with life-threatening injuries after the collision, according to Harris. The person later died, Harris said.
The 911 call came in at 9:28 p.m., and Harris announced at 9:25 p.m. that the person had died.
Freedom Drive remained closed at 10:30 p.m.
