The Charlotte Fire Department will officially open its new headquarters with a ribbon-cutting, tours of the building and fire-safety demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The new headquarters is at 500 Dalton Ave., off Statesville Avenue near The Salvation Army Center of Hope shelter.
The old headquarters closed in 1991. Some of the administrative functions were located in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center for some time, then moved to leased space on East 9th Street.
The new location also serves as an anchor to revitalization efforts along the Statesville Avenue and North Graham Street corridors, fire officials said in announcing Saturday’s opening.
