A man was hospitalized in serious condition Friday morning after being shot behind a McDonald’s in the 6300-block of Albemarle Road, east of Central Avenue, media outlets reported Friday.

The victim was described as a homeless man in his early 20s by TV station WSOC.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the incident happened around 10:35 a.m. in the parking lot of a McDonald’s, reported the Observer’s news partner, WBTV. Officers arrived to find a man with an apparent gunshot wound and the injuries were serious, the station reported.

Another vehicle in the parking lot was shot into, but police say none of the people inside were injured, media outlets reported.

The suspected shooters got away in a vehicle. No arrests have been made and no names have been released, reported WBTV.
