Charlotte man was shot and left to die in the road north of uptown Sunday night

A Charlotte man was found dead in the street over the weekend, the latest victim of gun violence in the city. It happened in the 1400 block of Waddell Street, and the victim was identified as Abraham Malik Wallace. He was 22.

It was the city’s 78th homicide of the year.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s homicide unit said they received a report of shots fired around 10:10 p.m. on Sunday. They arrived to find a vehicle parked on the side of the road and a man lying beside it. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A K-9 dog team attempted to track the suspect, but was unable to locate anyone, police said.
