Tuesday traffic: I-77 ramp to reopen by 4 p.m.

The Interstate 77 northbound ramp at Exit 11B to the Brookshire Freeway is expected to reopen about 4 p.m., after a tractor trailer overturned about 11 a.m., state highway officials said.

The rig was carrying medical supplies, WBTV, the Observer’s news partner reported.

In other traffic news, the northbound lanes of Hawthorne Lane between Elizabeth Avenue and Fifth Street will close at 6 a.m. Wednesday and reopen at 6 a.m. Thursday because of work related to the CityLynx Gold Line Phase I streetcar project.

Motorists should detour using Elizabeth Avenue, Travis Avenue and Fifth Street. Access to Carolinas Medical Center will remain open at all times.

Local access to residences will be maintained. CATS service will be affected.
