Man dies after he was found shot multiple times in Concord backyard
A man was shot and killed early Thursday in Concord.
Concord Police were called shortly before 5 a.m. to the home in the 200 block of Academy Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds in the home’s backyard.
The man, identified as 27-year-old Sergio Montez Culbertson, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast, where he died.
The shooting doesn’t appear to be random and there is no ongoing threat to the community, police said.
Culbertson was Concord’s first homicide victim of the year, according to Observer news partner WBTV.
