Police ID man who was fatally shot near a Charlotte high school Thursday
A man who was shot and killed near a Charlotte high school on Thursday has been identified by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police as 41-year-old Jevon Phifer.
Police were called to the 2400 block of Kendall Drive shortly after 1 p.m. on Thursday, where they found Phifer shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooting happened near West Charlotte High School, and while the incident was not connected to the school, the building went on lockdown for about an hour, Observer news partner WBTV reported.
An arrest has not been made in the case. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 704-432-TIPS or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
