Jets’ Jamal Adams shoved Cam Newton after touchdown. Twitter loves Newton’s response.

Cam Newton’s touchdown celebrations have become national trends (the Dab), but New York Jet safety Jamal Adams is apparently not a fan of such antics.

After Newton scored a 1-yard touchdown Sunday, Adams came over and tried to prevent Newton from finishing his Superman move (pretending to pull open the jersey to reveal a Superman costume).

Newton slapped Adams’ hand off, stared him down, then finished his celebration, as the officials escorted Adams away. “I just don’t like people celebrating in our end zone,” Adams was later quoted as saying.

Social media went bonkers, with most lauding Newton for his cool response as “cool” and “mature.”

“Cam Newton WILL celebrate in your house, whether you like it or not,” tweeted SB Nation.

“Did Newton earn the right to do that by scoring a touchdown? Yes,” wrote CBS news. “Did Newton handle Adams’ interruption perfectly? Yes, he swatted him away like a fly...If the Jets don’t want to watch Newton celebrate, they should keep him out of the end zone.”

The New York Post took a different perspective, playing up Adams’ move.

“Jets rookie had no fear standing toe to toe with Cam Newton,” said the Post, going on to write that Adams “tugged on Superman’s cape.”

The Sporting News suggested Newton “appeared to stare at Adams while doing the celebration, so that’s probably why it got under Adams’ skin.”

Here’s what Twitter was saying:
