The skies will be buzzing in uptown Charlotte today, as a professional production company shoots drone footage for this weekend's College GameDay broadcast by ESPN.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police sent out a “heads up” about the drones via Tweet early Thursday. The footage is part of ESPN’s coverage of the 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference Football Championship Game in Charlotte, where the Miami Hurricanes will face the Clemson Tigers. The game is 8 p.m. Saturday at Bank of America Stadium.

College GameDay will take place at Romare Bearden Park on South College Street, across from BB&T Ballpark. On Saturday, there will be SportsCenter shots being filmed beginning at 7 a.m., with College GameDay airing live on ESPN from 9 a.m. to noon.

In addition to Saturday's show, ESPN will be at Romare Bearden Park throughout the day on Friday, Dec. 1, for SportsCenter hits, reports the ACC.

Both events are free to the public, reports a press release from the ACC. Fans should be aware that the following rules are in place for the viewing area:

  • Fans may arrive early to begin lining up for access to the Pit at 4 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, with the Pit opening at approximately 6:30 a.m. or later.
  • Fans entering the Pit will be screened by security and wanded.
  • No bags, backpacks or purses permitted in the pit.
  • No offensive, vulgar, inappropriate or solicitation signage will be allowed (no political, religious, or .com, .org, .net signage).
  • No signs or flags on a stick/pole.
  • No pens, pencils, markers or dry erase boards.
  • No food or drinks.
  • Throwing of objects is prohibited.

This marks the first appearance for ESPN’s College GameDay at the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game, and the fifth time this season the show has originated from the site of an ACC football game.
