For second time in 8 days, York County has an officer involved in a suspect shooting

The South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division is investigating yet another an officer-involved shooting that occurred early Friday in York County, just south of Charlotte.

Media outlets in Charlotte were reporting the man’s wounds were fatal. The deputy was not injured in the incident, reported the Observer’s news partner WBTV.

The York County Sheriff's Office reports the shooting occurred around 4 a.m. Friday near the 700 block of East Old Limestone Road. The site is northeast of the town of York, which is the county seat.

As of 6:45 a.m., E. Old Limestone Road at Branch Road, Shiloh Road and Wood Road are blocked to traffic because of the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies are asking people who normally take the road to find an alternate route. It is unclear when the road is expected to reopen.

No other details have been released.

It’s the second time in two weeks that the State Law Enforcement Division has been called in to investigate an officer involved shooting in York County. On Thanksgiving, Rock Hill police wounded a man after a standoff that began when the man stood on his porch with a gun. The suspect was identified as Jacob Dean Patterson, 30, of 515 Hutchinson St.

Patterson had a “mental health pick up order” issued for him, reported the Observer’s news partner WBTV.
