A family was displaced when fire heavily damaged their west Charlotte home Saturday afternoon, Charlotte Fire Capt. Dennis Gist said.

No injuries were reported in the fire in the 400 block of Grandin Road, off West Fourth Street Extension.

Firefighters had to call in two extra engines because of hydrant issues in the neighborhood, Gist said.

Thirty-six firefighters controlled the blaze in 33 minutes, Gist said at 5:30 p.m. Heavy smoke was showing when firefighters first arrived, he said.

What caused the fire wasn’t immediately known.
