Alma Adams to address CPCC convocation

U.S. Rep. Alma Adams will give the keynote address at Central Piedmont Community College’s Student Excellence Convocation on Sunday, the college announced Thursday.

About 70 CPCC students from various degree and diploma programs will be honored for their academic achievements and community service.

Recognition criteria include faculty endorsements and a grade point average of at least 3.0.

The convocation will be 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Dale F. Halton Theater, in the Overcash Building on CPCC’s Central Campus, 1206 Elizabeth Ave.

Adams, a Democrat from Greensboro, represents North Carolina’s 12th congressional district, which includes part of Mecklenburg County.

Before being elected to the U.S. House in 2014, Adams represented the state’s 58th House district since 1994.
