A teenager died Saturday when his pickup truck crossed the double yellow line in the 3300 block of Carmel Road in south Charlotte and was struck head-on by a box truck, police said.
John Robert Edward Gregoraschuk, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.
Eleuterio Sanchez Cruz, 31, who was driving the 1999 Chevrolet 3500 box truck, and passenger Oscar Ferrer Sanchez, 24, were taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville with minor injuries.
Gregoraschuk was driving a 1993 Chevrolet pickup outbound on Carmel Road, near Kingswood Road, when the truck veered across the double yellow line about 7:15 a.m., police said.
Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors, and everyone involved had seatbelts on, police said.
The collision is under investigation by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit. Any witnesses are asked to call CMPD Detective Kevin Allred at 704-432-2169.
