A Lincoln County man was arrested Wednesday after officials said he shot a gun multiple times in a home while several people, including children, were inside.

Deputies were called to 51-year-old Juan Carlos Soto’s residence around 3 a.m., where shots had been fired.

A victim told officials she was in a back room in the house with her sister and five children. Deputies helped the victims escape the residence through a window, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies entered the home after Soto didn’t comply with commands, officials said. Inside, they found Soto lying on a couch. He had shot the gun into the ceiling and floor.

Soto faces several charges for second-degree kidnapping and a charge of discharging a firearm inside an occupied building, officials said. He also was charged with assault by pointing a gun.
