Traffic: Accident on I-85 South in the University City area
An accident on Interstate 85 South just after 9 a.m. Monday was slowing traffic in the University City area.
One lane was closed on I-85 South near University City Boulevard.
Otherwise, traffic was moving slowly in the usual areas in the Charlotte region as of 9:30 a.m. Several accidents on city streets were also slowing the commute into uptown Charlotte.
Interstate 77 had slowed down heading north from the South Carolina line into uptown Charlotte, and heading south from the Mooresville area, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.
An accident on Kenilworth Avenue at I-277 (John Belk Freeway) was slowing traffic on that popular route into uptown.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department also reported several accidents on Pineville-Matthews Road near Providence Road. An accident on Nations Ford Road and Ansley Falls Drive was also slowing traffic.
Some lane closures were expected on Matthews Township Parkway between Sam Newell Road and U.S. 74 after 9 a.m., with delays possible.
