Gov. Pat McCrory will be at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord Friday morning to help kick off Motorsports Month in North Carolina.

He will be joined by Commerce Secretary John Skvarla III on the speedway infield. The speedway will put the governor to work, and have him help paint the start/finish line.

The speedway is getting ready to host two big races, the NASCAR All-Star Race May 16 and the Coca-Cola 600 on May 24.

The state and the track like to tout the economic benefits from racing.

Last year, the governor’s office said more than 1 million people attended racing events throughout the state and that motorsports contributes $6 billion to North Carolina’s economy while supporting 25,000 jobs.
