Several Lake Norman area fire departments battled a blaze late Friday that completely destroyed a large metal workshop near Davidson.

The workshop, about 1,600 square feet, was off East Rocky River Road. It stored trucks and construction equipment, officials said. Neighbors reported seeing smoke about 8 p.m. and when firefighters arrived they found flames and heavy smoke.

As of Saturday morning, the fire’s cause was still under investigation, fire officials said. No damage estimate was available.

No injuries were reported.
