Tropical Storm Ana is warm, cloudy, mostly dry for Charlotte

Tropical Storm Ana is turning out to be a mostly warm, dry affair for the Charlotte region, with only a 30 percent change of showers expected Sunday, temperatures as high as 82.

The most pleasant part of it could be winds of 11 to 13, with gusts as high as 21, mph, making picnicking a challenge in some areas.

Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected Sunday and it would likely come with scattered thunderstorms in the late evening, between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., the National Weather Service reports.

Monday appears to be the better chance for rain, with a 40 percent possibility due to an incoming frontal boundary that will inspire storms. Still, rainfall amounts would still be only about a tenth of an inch, officials said. The rain Monday night would come before 11 p.m.

That same scattered-shower scenario appears to be ahead for the entire week, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 89 on Tuesday.

The coolest periods will be Wednesday and Thursday, with evening lows of 58 degrees, the National Weather Service reports.
