Traffic congested Monday after several accidents
Traffic congestion was steady in the Charlotte area as of 8:45 a.m. Monday after several accidents piled up on main commuter routes.
Independence Boulevard was significantly slowed heading into uptown. Speeds had also slowed significantly on I-77 South from Cornelius toward uptown, on I-85 South from Kannapolis, and the I-485 westbound inner loop between Independence Boulevard and Providence Road.
An accident on Stonewall Street at Brevard Street made traffic uptown more difficult.
Earlier accidents on Interstate 277 at College Street South, at Tryon Street and West Boulevard, and Independence Boulevard at Wallace Road had been cleared.
