6 adults displaced, 3 dogs killed by Charlotte fire
Six adults were displaced and three dogs were killed by a fire that tore through four units at a northeast Charlotte apartment complex Wednesday morning.
When they arrived about 7 a.m., Charlotte firefighters reported heavy smoke coming from the complex in the 300 block of Barrymore Drive, off Eastway Drive.
Nearly two dozen firefighters controlled the fire in 14 minutes. None of the adults were injured.
Fire officials were still determining the cause Wednesday.
The Volunteer Disaster Action Team from the American Red Cross is providing lodging, groceries, clothing and comfort kits for the displaced residents, spokeswoman Jennifer Franklin said.
