10-month-old Charlotte wreck victim dies Thursday
A 10-month-old boy who was a back-seat passenger in a minivan that wrecked on Interstate 85 in Charlotte last week died Thursday morning at Carolinas Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.
Brandon Holland had been in critical condition since last Thursday’s wreck at the Brookshire Freeway exit.
Brandon was among five children and two adults injured in the wreck.
The minivan’s driver, Shondara Harris, 28, of Charlotte was charged with five counts of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of reckless driving to endanger.
Harris told troopers she’d intended to get onto the Brookshire Freeway but came up too fast on it and swerved trying to exit, Trooper John Burgin has said.
The seven were apparently living in the van, Burgin said.
