A man walked into a south Charlotte police precinct early Thursday and told officers he had "just killed his girlfriend," according to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police.

He was telling the truth, police say.

Officers responded to an apartment in the 10700 block of Point South Drive to find a woman who had been shot to death and an unattended baby nearby. The infant did not appear to be hurt in any way, police said.
