Two men charged in 2014 Lake Wylie killings now suspects in Charlotte murder

Two suspected Charlotte gang members implicated in the murders of a Lake Wylie couple last year were officially identified as the suspects in the 2013 murder of Kwamne Donqurius Clyburn, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Jamell Cureton, 22, and Ahkeem McDonald, 21, both believed to be members of the gang United Blood Nation, were already federally indicted for murder on April 21 in the death of Clyburn, 18, who was found dead on Pressley Road on Aug. 22, 2013.

Police allege Cureton and McDonald killed Clyburn after he tried to pass himself off as a UBN member.

Police ask that anyone with information call 704-432-TIPS, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

Cureton and McDonald, both already in custody, were among six suspected UBN members charged in the killings last October of Doug and Debbie London at their Lake Wylie home. Their deaths remain among the region’s most shocking killings in recent years.

Authorities said then that the Londons were gunned down after answering the door at their home to keep Doug London from testifying against the UBN members who tried to rob his mattress store.

Cureton had been shot and wounded by Doug London during a robbery attempt of the couple’s South Boulevard store. He was in jail at the time of their killings, but authorities believe he ordered and planned the hit.
