High near 90 Monday, possible rain in evening

It’s going to be hot Monday, as high as 90 degrees, and muggy.

Still, Charlotte’s best chance of rain for the week is also Monday, more likely in the evening, with a 40 percent chance. The chance is closer to 60 percent in the mountains.

But weather forecasters have falsely predicted the city would get rain for a week now, so most Charlotteans are not believing it.

Highs will remain in the upper 80s through Thursday and chances of rain are slim (no more than 20 percent).

Night temperatures will drop to the lower 60s, which means cost cutters can probably air conditioning for at least another week.

Those looking ahead to the Memorial Day weekend can expect more of the same, with a high on Memorial Day of 90 and little chance of rain.
