Chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday

The Charlotte area has a 40 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms Tuesday, after some rain finally hit parts of the city and surrounding counties Monday.

Before Monday, the region had gone with just a trace of rain in May, and some areas still haven’t seen any.

After some fog Tuesday morning, the day will be partly sunny with a high near 87, according to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms could show up again Tuesday night, but the chance stands at only 20 percent.

All sun is forecast for Wednesday, with a high of 86, while a chance of thunderstorms returns Thursday, when the high is expected to be a more comfortable 82.

Friday and Saturday should be mostly sunny, with highs down to 80.

Sunday and Memorial Day also will see mostly sun, with respective highs of 83 and 86.
