Charlotte traffic: Commuter traffic backing up on I-77 and I-85

Commuter traffic is building up on Interstate 77 at the state line and on I-85 southbound from I-485 to W.T. Harris Boulevard, but no lanes are blocked, state highway officials said at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Heavy congestion also is being reported on I-77 southbound from Catawba Avenue, Exit 28, in Cornelius to Gilead Road, Exit 23, in Huntersville.

Early Tuesday morning, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police investigated injury wrecks at North Graham and Wolfberry streets and at East W.T. Harris Boulevard and Back Creek Drive. Those wrecks have long been cleared.
