Hot and humid conditions have been the norm across the Charlotte region recently, but a reprieve — albeit brief — is on the way.

A cold front will pass through the Charlotte region Friday and into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service, bringing with it cooler temperatures for the weekend.

Charlotteans should find it's noticeably less humid over the weekend, particularly on Sunday, weather service meteorologist Tony Sturey said.

“There’s going to be a temporary cool-down," Sturey said.

Showers and storms are likely Friday evening before midnight because of the front, according to the weather service. Rain is also likely Saturday, but with high temperatures near 80 degrees, it'll be noticeably cooler.

Sunday will be mostly sunny with high temperatures near the mid-80s, Sturey said.

The break from the heat is only temporary. Temperatures will start to climb again on Monday to 92 degrees and will be back in the mid-90s again by Wednesday, Sturey said.
