A puppy fell deep inside a sewer pipe in Ballantyne. Here’s how it was rescued.
Charlotte fire officials rescued a puppy in Ballantyne after it fell in a sewer pipe Thursday morning.
The rescue happened in the 9900 block of Evergreen Terrace Drive. Crews were called to the area shortly after 8 a.m. The dog fell about 6 feet into the sewer, officials said.
Crews dug more than 7 feet into the street to find the dog, a 5-week old puppy named MJ, according to Observer news partner WBTV.
A hazmat team used a camera to monitor the puppy’s movement in the pipe, fire officials said.
The puppy was freed from the sewer and reunited with its owners about two hours after officials arrived.
The dog appeared to be fine, WCNC reported.
