Johnston Family YMCA holds Coney Island-themed afternoon

Hot dog purveyor Nathan’s Famous treated the Johnston Family YMCA to a Coney Island-themed afternoon on Wednesday with carnival games and a miniature three-horse carousal.

The event was part of the company’s Ready. Set. PLAY. initiative created in 2014 with KaBOOM!, which built the YMCA’s playground in 2011.

Nathan’s Famous surprised Jenny Sigmon, the Johnston YMCA’s executive director, with a Food Lion gift card worth $1,000 toward the purchase of groceries.

Food Lion also donated a $500 gift card toward the purchase of hot dogs, snacks and water to support the Nathan’s Famous Play Day event.
