Search continues for missing bicyclist last seen in south Charlotte

Officials are searching for a missing man who never returned after going for a bike ride Wednesday in south Charlotte. Charles Mathis Pfeiler was last seen in the 7300 block of Sardis Road.

He is described as a white male 5’10” tall and 195 pounds. He is bald with brown eyes.

He was last seen leaving his home on a gray Trek mountain bike, police said Thursday.

Family reported Pfeiler missing around 8:43 p.m. Wednesday from Ashton Gate Drive, saying he never returned from his bike ride.

Sunday night, 34 firefighters and support personnel gathered to look for Pfeiler in the Sardis Road area.

They temporarily suspended the search due to weather but resumed later in the night.

Around 9 p.m., Charlotte Fire Department said search crews would continue the search Monday. Anyone with information is asked to call Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department at 704-334-1600.
