Gunman tries to rob newspaper carrier

A suspect with a handgun tried to rob a Charlotte Observer carrier in Mooresville early Friday, according to the Mooresville Police Department.

The attempted robbery took place at 2:18 a.m. on Talbert Road while the carrier was loading newspapers into his car for delivery. The robbery was unsuccessful and the suspect fled in a dark green Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck from the late 1980s or early 1990s.

Mooresville police said the same suspect may have tried to rob a QuikTrip on Thursday.
