Mice behind the yogurt station? Search a database of county restaurant inspections.
How clean is your favorite restaurant?
From dead roaches and rat droppings to dirty bathrooms and rotten fruit, Mecklenburg County health inspectors found more than 100,000 violations at area restaurants since 2016.
Most violations dealt with potentially contaminated surfaces that could come into contact with food. Thousands of others dealt with food not cooked long or hot enough — a misstep that could make diners ill.
More than 2,000 violations found the presence of insects, rodents or “unauthorized animals.”
“Observed mice dropping behind yogurt station,” wrote a health department official who inspected a Burger King off Beatties Ford Road in 2016.
