Smithfield partnered with Richard Petty Motorsports on Friday to donate 25,000 pounds of protein to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. The event, part of Smithfield’s Helping Hungry Homes program, coincided with the annual Fan Day at the Richard Petty Motorsports shop in Mooresville. Organizers said they sought to raise awareness of studies showing that 49 million Americans, including 16 million children, struggle with hunger.
