UNC Charlotte canceling classes in advance of Hurricane Florence
UNC Charlotte said Tuesday that it’s shutting down in anticipation of Hurricane Florence impacting the region.
Classes after 5 p.m. Wednesday are canceled, the university said, and the campus will stay closed until 5 p.m. Sunday. UNC Charlotte Center City also is closed. University activities are canceled starting 8 a.m. Thursday.
Dorms will remain open, however. Non-mandatory employees should avoid campus starting Thursday morning, the school said.
“Students should exercise good judgment and monitor local weather forecasts when determining travel plans,” university officials said in a statement.
