An American Airlines flight from Charlotte to Orlando had to return to Charlotte’s airport Thursday morning shortly after takeoff but landed safely.

Flight 2114 experienced a maintenance issue shortly after takeoff, American spokeswoman Crystal Byrd said by email. She didn’t describe the issue. The plane carried 158 passengers and six crew members.

The flight landed back at Charlotte at 10:15 a.m. It had taken off from Charlotte at 9:19 a.m., the flight-tracking site FlightAware.com reported.

“We are taking care of both our crew and passengers and are accommodating them on another aircraft,” Byrd said.
