NC Highway Patrol troopers identify woman, 24, killed in I-485 crash

N.C. Highway Patrol troopers have identified the woman who died Sunday in a single-car crash on Interstate 485.

Megan Elizabeth Jones, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was involved in the crash. The Highway Patrol did not say where she lived.

According to the N.C. Highway Patrol report, Jones was driving westbound on 485 when her car lost control and ran off the right side of the road. It struck a guard rail near the South Boulevard exit and overturned.

The collision is still under investigation, and it wasn’t clear Monday what caused Jones to drive off the road.

The wreck happened just after 5 p.m. on Sunday. The road was closed for about an hour as N.C. Highway Patrol troopers investigated and cleared the wreckage.
