A Charlotte woman was killed and two other women injured in a crash Monday morning in Chesterfield County, S.C., officials said.
The accident happened about 8 a.m. on S.C. 151 near Jefferson. Investigators with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said that the driver, later identified as 21-year-old Aiyana Nicole Boyd, reportedly fell asleep.
The vehicle then ran off the road into the median and flipped.
Boyd, who troopers said was trapped in the vehicle, died at the scene. Two passengers in the SUV, Danielle Rankine and Jessica Brimmer, both 24, were taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Monroe. The extent of their injuries had not been released Monday evening.
The highway was closed for hours as crews worked to clear the scene. WBTV
