One killed in multi-vehicle crash on I-85 in Rowan County

At least one person was killed Saturday afternoon in a crash involving multiple vehicles on I-85 in Rowan County.

The incident happened on I-85 southbound at mile marker 78, just north of Salisbury, according to WBTV, a Charlotte Observer affiliate

Several vehicles were involved in the wreck and at least one person was killed, WBTV reported.

Emergency crews had shut down the southbound lanes of I-85 at about 3:45 p.m., according to WBTV, as crews worked to clear the scene.

Crews were calling for two medical helicopters to the scene, but all medical helicopters were grounded because of weather.
