One person has been killed in an accident that took place on the I-485 inner loop around 5 a.m. Saturday.
The accident occurred between South Blvd. and I-77 near exit 67 after a 2013 Hyundai hydroplaned and struck the concrete median wall on the highway.
The Hyundai came to a stop in the left two lanes and the driver exited the vehicle.
A 2006 Honda SUV was driving in the left lane and struck the Hyundai which hit the man standing beside the car.
The driver of the Hyundai was killed from the impact. Officials identified the driver as Darian Montel Goolsby.
The roadway remained closed into the morning as troopers continued to investigate the scene where the accident had occurred. No further information has been released at this time.
