Charlotte man dies at hospital after shooting in home off South Boulevard

A person shot near a gas station in south Charlotte Monday night has died, prompting a homicide investigation.

The victim was identified as 21-year-old Juforest Ishaih Hicks.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they were called to an assault in the 7100 block if South Boulevard around 10: 50 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds. Medic took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead early Tuesday morning.

Police say the 911 call initially came in just down the road, from the 1400 block of Axminster Court.

Police are concentrating the homicide investigation in that area.

The victim’s name will be released after his family has been notified of his death.
