Five people were injured in a chlorine leak at the Apple data center in Maiden on Monday, according to dispatchers with Catawba Fire and Rescue.

Authorities had provided few details on the leak, which was reported about 2:30 p.m.

Apple will invest $1 billion over a decade for its 183-acre data center. The more than 500,000-square-foot facility is one of the world’s largest data centers.
