Two teenagers, including a 14-year-old, are accused of carjacking a woman at gunpoint in Charlotte and leading police on a nearly 40-mile pursuit into Chester County, S.C., before they were arrested early Tuesday.

The victim told police that two assailants threatened her with a gun and drove off in her car just after 2 a.m. in the 3200 block of Wilkinson Boulevard, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department news release Tuesday.

Soon after the carjacking, CMPD Metro Division officers found the victim’s car and tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver kept going, police said.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers and Chester County sheriff’s deputies picked up the pursuit once across the state line and stopped and arrested the teens in Richburg, according to CMPD.

The 14- and 16-year-old suspects will be charged with robbery once they are returned to Mecklenburg County, police said. CMPD will not release their names, because they are juveniles.
