40 firefighters needed at Ballantyne house fire where several pets were killed

Several pets were killed during a house fire in Ballantyne Monday.

No other injuries were reported, the Charlotte Fire Department said.

The fire broke out at the two-story home before 12:30 p.m., according to Observer news partner WBTV. A video by the Charlotte Fire Department showed smoke and flames coming from inside the house.

More than 40 firefighters were involved in managing the fire that occurred on the 10700 block of Jordan Rae Lane near Ballantyne Commons Parkway.

The incident is under investigation, officials said.
